Company
History
Datavision Technologies was established in 1996 by Sherry
Marek and Sudharshan Chary, with the primary
goal of bringing a data warehousing/business intelligence
system to the hospitality industry. Headquartered in
the Fort Lauderdale area in Florida, Datavision is well
respected in the hospitality industry with several major
hotel companies as customers-Intrawest Resorts, American
Skiing Company, InterContinental Hotels, Interstate
Hotels, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, etc.
Initial installations in
1997 included South Seas Resorts and the Los Angeles
InterContinental Hotel. Today, Datavision has almost a
hundred installations throughout the United States and
Canada - from large resorts and spas to downtown business
properties to multi-property installations where the
system is used to track performance across the enterprise.
Sherry has about
15 years of experience in the hotel industry, having
worked for Hilton International and InterContinental
Hotels before co-founding Datavision. At Hilton
International, Sherry worked at hotels and then moved to
corporate, where she traveled around the world installing
front office systems, training hotel personnel and setting
up regional training courses. At InterContinental Hotels,
Sherry was in charge of the front office, marketing and
sales & catering systems, Before leaving in 1996, she
successfully rolled out a CRM called Global 2000 which
collected data from all front office systems in the
company into a corporate reporting solution. Sherry has
written numerous articles for the industry magazines and
presented sessions at conferences on business
intelligence.
Sudharshan also
worked at InterContinental Hotels, where he was part of a
team hat created a client/server based Central
Reservations System for use at all 100+ hotels around the
world. Currently overseeing Datavision's sales efforts, he
also delivers presentations at HITEC, HUG and other
industry events on using data warehousing for effective
business intelligence.
Philosophy:
We set out to create a data warehouse for the hospitality industry.
According to our ground rules, the system had to:
• be extremely easy to use, but also be feature rich and powerful.
• have cutting technology, yet be able to run on inexpensive hardware.
• be easy to manage, but grow with you as your information need grew.
• seamlessly integrate into Microsoft Excel®.
We ended up with DVEnterprise, an exciting combination of art and science.
DVEnterprise provides you with an intuitive Excel based graphical front end, backed by an industrial strength data warehouse. Extremely scalable,
DVEnterprise can be used at the property level and at corporate/regional offices to view data consolidated from many properties.
