Weston, FL: Resort management company American Skiing Company
recently deployed Decisions Business Intelligence System from
Datavision Technologies, Inc. at seven resorts. A premier developer
of Business Intelligence Solutions in the hospitality industry,
Datavision’s flagship product - Decisions Business Intelligence
System – consolidates data from various systems (PMS, POS,
Timeclock, etc.) into a data warehouse to provide flash reporting,
revenue management solutions and guest stay pattern analysis.
At American Skiing Company’s resorts, Decisions extracts a variety
of historical and on-the-books information from Springer Miller PMS
and provides automated flash reports, booking pace reports and
30/60/90 day forecasting reports. Consistent market segments and
revenue consolidations were also developed at all the resorts to
provide standardized reports that can be used across the enterprise.
Shortly after the PMS close day is complete, all of this data is
available to decision makers in the company, giving the management
team access to operational numbers early in the morning. In
addition, a host of marketing data relating to booking sources,
package codes, guest geographic origin and market segmentation is
available at anytime for ad-hoc analysis and reporting via an OLAP
database. Data is delivered to end-users via standard Excel
spreadsheets, which can then be customized to meet individual needs
of the resorts or linked to other spreadsheets. ASC’s corporate
office is also able to access information from all resorts via a
Wide Area Network.
Peter Mutty, ASC Controller of Hospitality Operations, states:
“Decisions has truly enhanced our ability to quickly spot new trends
and respond to the changes in our future business. Each property can
monitor the booking pace of revenue by market share compared to
budget, forecast and a snapshot of last year’s occupancy. In the
past, personnel at the property spent 6-14 hours collating this data
rather than reviewing it. Now, everyday the data is at their
fingertips and the management team at each resort can use Decisions
to monitor rates and control costs within forecasted occupancy
immediately.”
Sudharshan Chary, President of Datavision, says: “Most resorts today
spend considerable amounts of time manually re-keying numbers from
various reports into spreadsheets. Decisions automates the
collection, warehousing and delivery of all this data so that users
can spend their valuable time analyzing data and act based on the
analysis.”
